Notes on the Fingerings
Both of these fingerings for low F push down the same pads and will sound exactly the same. Fingering #1 is the standard fingering. Fingering #2 is most often used when you move back and forth from F to Low A flat or G sharp.
Helpful tips: If you are trying to play Low F and the note does not come out, or if it squeaks, make sure that you are covering all of the other tone holes completely. The low notes on the clarinet can be very difficult for beginners, especially students with smaller hands and fingers. Often, when Low F does not produce a sound, the problem is that the third finger on the right hand is not covering the Low G hole completely.
